Home Styling is like a giant Tetris board.

When I walk into a home styling project, it’s like a giant Tetris board. In my mind, I swivel and spin chairs, tables and accessories like a scene out of a Harry Potter movie. I see how the room would most aesthetically be staged.

When my husband Chris and I purchased an investment property, I had the opportunity to flex my Tetris skills on a larger scale; the home was well-loved but required a substantial facelift. It was our first foray into the world of vacation rentals, and we playfully dubbed the property A Spirited Retreat. It was our goal to create a memorable space for families to reconnect and relax!

After a successful launch of our property {and while celebrating over a glass of wine}, Chris commented that I was most ‘in my element’ while staging furniture and setting the mood at A Spirited Retreat.

...and I guess he posed a good point. For as long as I can remember, family and friends called on me when they were in the process of buying or selling so that I would help them better visualize their space. {I joke that I have occasionally served as a marital broker, helping couples agree on furniture placement without killing each other!}

In that moment of ‘Cabernet clarity,’ I decided to shift from the world of education and plunge into the world of home staging and styling. I immersed myself in staging courses, color psychology and home organizational books. KO Home Styling, LLC grew from a notion into a reality!

My styling mantra is deeply rooted in sensibility. Every project may look different, but the goal is the same; a home needs to flow and function to meet the client’s needs. Oftentimes, a space simply needs a fresh perspective and someone that will roll up their sleeves and make thoughtful changes. It is my joy in life to put my creativity to work and create beautiful spaces. Afterall….every home deserves to be a Knock Out!
